PlayStation & Xbox
Join a Minecraft server on your PS4, PS5 or Xbox.
Before you start
Make sure:
- MCCompanion is installed and running on your PC, Mac, or phone
- Your console and the device running MCCompanion are on the same Wi-Fi network
Steps
- Connect everything to the same network
Make sure your phone/tablet running MCCompanion and your console are on the same Wi‑Fi (avoid Guest Wi‑Fi if possible).
- Open MCCompanion
Launch the app on your phone or tablet.
- Enter your server details
Enter the server address (IP or domain) and port (default: 19132), or pick one from your saved/recommended servers.
- Select a server and select Xbox/PS4-5 as the mode
Tap on the server you prefer and select Xbox/PS4-5.
- Start broadcasting
Tap Start (Start Broadcasting). MCCompanion will create a local LAN game entry for your console.
- Join from your console
On your console, open Minecraft → Play → Friends/worlds and look for a LAN Game MCCompanion. Tap it to connect.
- Stop when you’re done
When finished, return to MCCompanion and tap Stop to end the broadcast.
Not working?
A few things to try:
- Your phone/tablet and console MUST be on the same WiFi
- Make sure MCCompanion is still broadcasting (don't close the app)
- Make sure your battery is above 15%, since some devices may block the broadcast when the battery is low
- Xbox requires an online multiplayer subscription, and PlayStation requires PlayStation Plus, to connect to online multiplayer servers
- Double-check the IP and port (default: 19132)
- Try toggling the broadcast off and back on
- Some routers block LAN discovery between devices if that's the case, check your router settings or try a different network
- Make sure the server you are trying to connect to allows Bedrock players to connect
On PS5 and newer Xbox models, LAN worlds sometimes take a few seconds to appear.
