MCCompanion Not Appearing

Your console isn't seeing the MCCompanion LAN world? Work through these steps.

Basic checks

Before anything else, confirm these:

  • Same WiFi Network - Your phone/tablet and console MUST be on the same WiFi
  • Enough Battery - Make sure your battery is above 15%, since some devices may block the broadcast when the battery is low
  • Online Multiplayer Subscription - Xbox requires an online multiplayer subscription, and PlayStation requires PlayStation Plus, to connect to online multiplayer servers
  • Correct Server Address - Double-check the IP and port (default: 19132)
  • Broadcasting Active - Verify MCCompanion shows "Broadcasting" status
  • Accepts Bedrock Players - Make sure the server you are trying to connect to allows Bedrock players to connect

Quick fixes

  • Restart the app - Stop broadcasting, close MCCompanion completely, reopen and try again
  • Restart your console - Sometimes the console needs a refresh to detect LAN games
  • Check Friends/LAN tab - The server appears under "Friends" or "LAN Games", NOT in server list
  • Wait 10-15 seconds - Give it time to appear after pressing Start
  • Disable VPN - VPNs can block local network broadcasts

Common error messages

"MCCompanion: No active session found!" Start any mode so our servers know where to send you. If the issue continues, make sure you are on the same network when starting MCCompanion.

"Unable to connect to MCCompanion server" This is an internet connectivity issue, not a LAN issue. Check your connection or see if the MCCompanion is down.

Still stuck?

Enable Debug Mode in the MCCompanion app. Check the logs; they usually point directly to the problem. You can also try connecting to a different server to rule out a server-side issue.
